Obedience in the Bible: Hebrews 13:17

This is another Bible passage that discusses how we are to relate to people put in authority over us. We're to obey and respect them (so long as doing so doesn't disobey God), and we are not to do anything to make their tasks more difficult than necessary.

  1. Wildways says:

How does one deal with a situation where God commands us to witness and follow his commands to spread the Good News but our work situation prohibits us from testifying about God openly.

For example teachers are not allowed to openly witness to their pupils, but God commands us to, and also commands us to obey those over us.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
