"Release" in the Bible: Luke 4:17-19

At one point in Jesus' ministry he goes to Nazareth and begins to teach in the synagoge there. He takes the scroll of Isaiah and reads a few verses where Isaiah is talking about someone releasing the oppressed and proclaiming the year of the Lord. Jesus says that the scripture is talking about him.

“[Love for Enemies] “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
- Matthew 5:43-45
