Temptation: not just for the rich and famous

Not a season goes by that we don’t hear of some public figure’s fall from grace. A famous pastor is exposed as a hypocrite. A politician’s career is engulfed by scandal. We watch, and we wonder at the many ways in which sin brings down the high and mighty. But we're not so immune to temptation as we might like to think...

So true yet so much ignored. Is because the focus is on someone else?

seems as though the longer I walk with Jesus, the worse temptation is. I once thought that I would achieve a level of maturity in my life that temptation would no longer be an issue. A lie. We are continually tested to strengthen us and we (I) don’t always pass each test. So, we pray for strength and take each one as it comes. Having a close friend to confide in also helps. We find we are not alone in this walk. Keep walking, keep trusting, stay faithful, get up when you fall. davec8656

Hi, I am 14 years old and I was just trying to find a regular devotion that I can get a grade for for sharing it to my class (I go to a private school). I came across this little devotion and thought it was the neatest thing because it’s just so typical to think that it would happen to someone else….which is defiantly not true, I know that much. even though I am only 14 I have fallen more than once and its been hard to stay on the right track. I have been struggling very hard with listening to God and doing what I know is right. I keep hoping that something out there will grab my attention and I honestly think this has. thank you for posting this, sometimes I look so hard to find things that God wants me to do for Him that its right in front of my face.
    God bless,
    Hannah

I am 47 y/o female with two grown children. They no longer live at home. My greatness regret is not teaching them the fear of God. My fruit of the spirit is revealed by son is in an adultress relationship with an 25 y/0 older woman. My dauther is divorced and remarried. I wish I could go back and do things different. I have found renewed strenght in Christ. My temptation now is cigarettes I grew up in a Christain home. We went to church every time the door was open. I carried my kids to church but something went wrong along the way. Please, pray with me as I humble myself now to the mistakes I made. Please, pray with me that God will be mericful to me where I failed him. I now have to time for devotion and prayer. I think that is vital to a relationship to God. If you read this and have children still at home be thankful and draw close to the Lord. I always believed in Christ but I was raised once saved always saved. Rethink those words walk as if you can fall from Grace. The road back is not easy. My grandchildren are all from broken homes. I praise God they have fathers who provide and take care of them. But, their father’s do not attend church. Please, pray for my family to be bought back into the fold. I need to complete the changes God has begun in my life. Remember parents stay in the Word of our Living God.

i have been like a wave being tossed about and my faith was swallowed by alcohol. For the first time in six months, I have been beer free for two weeks. I fell on my knees and prayed, and today i have been reborn.
