The practice of tithing--giving ten percent of your income back to God--was instituted in the Old Testament. It continues to be practiced in most Christian churches today.

Tithing is an ordinance under the Law of Moses. Churches are receiving tithes unlawfully. If they do one part of the Law, they have to do the whole law and are severed from Christ.

Jesus taught the Apostles to freely give because they freely received (Matthew 10:8) Paul stated that He did not use his right as an Apostle to set an example for us to follow. His instructions were found in Matthew 10, also). When Jerusalem was going through a time of famine, Paul encouraged the gentile churches to help them by putting things aside on the first day of the week. He was going to deliver it to the believers in Jerusalem (this was not a tithe). He was teaching them to give is better than to receive.

Jesus didn’t collect money when he wanted to feed the 5000 or the 4000. He used what was available not taking anything from the people. He also paid tax (Why doesn’t the churches?). Tithing was for the Levites and for the priesthood under Aaron. When the priesthood changed, the Law changed (Hebrews 7:12) Churches receive tithe’s unlawfully and are not following the Lord’s command!
