My husband doesn’t think watching porn or masturbating is a sin because it does not specifically say that in the bible. He said that people twist the words to make it state that. men have needs and I can not provide for him all the time. Is this true or is there a bible referance that specifically mentions porn and masturbation???
Mar, I would strongly recommend that you take a look at the XXXChurch.com ministry. They have a section specifically for spouses in your situation. You will find quite a few wives (and some husbands as well) talking there about their experiences with a spouse’s interest in pornography. The questions you ask are the sort of issue they work out. So take a look–I think you will find it helpful.

I’m having the same problem man, it’s really hard to stay away from porn these days, well particularrly nights, when I have that ungodly craving.. Seing as I also abstain fr sex because I’m single, I currently under attack and am fighting the desire to look at porn right now on this phone, is it worse to knowingly sin or rod yourself of unclean thoughts by sinning? Man it’s hard!! Like quitting smoking!
I’m 17 years old and i have a problem with pornography i have tried to stop looking at it but i just keep having the temptation to keep looking at it I know that it is not pleasing to God. What should i do to prevent myself from doing these sins?
“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” 1 Cor 10:13
This is a promise given by God, so take heart and lean on His promises, and I believe that you can and will have victory over these addictions! I think if nothing else, try to think of this verse when you are tempted. Yes we are weak and weak-minded, but God never meant for us to depend on ourselves but on Him who is strong!
Hope this encourages everyone here =) Hm if it helps maybe you can find someone you can confide in to be accountable to as well =)
im a fifteen year old gal n cnt seem to overcome the temptation of porn i dont know wat to do….pls help me
Hi, Im a married guy and i can’t seem to break away from porn or masturbation either…..i love my wife and our sex life is great..no worries there, but my job has worn out at times and with my wife’s busy schedule i’ll masturbate as a shortcut to when she’s busy and im in need, im a christian and i feel bad when i do, but the temptation is soo strong, i,ve been doin this for sooo long till its has become a normal thing, meaning i’ve started masturbating at a very young age, and was exposed to porn way back when they were just in magazines…i don’t know what to do…i pray to my lord for strength but always seems to let him down…and i too like one of the other people wrote feel that it seems like a good and safe alternative to cheatin…please help….
Well, I pray about this problem constantly, but mere prayer isn’t the answer. I have come to the conclusion that you need to replace this habit with a good habit. If your shoe hurts your foot, then you need to either figure out why the shoe is hurting you or wear different shoes. I think this problem is the same. Also you have to know what triggers you.
My wife loves to watch the show,”Hoarders”. I hate to watch it, because it’s like seeing someone with a facial disfigurement and staring at them and making comments, etc. Anyway, one episode that I got pulled in to had this guy, I don’t remember what his house looked like, but I do remember seeing a pile of Christian Music CD’s and sermon CD’s in one shot.
WHAT IS MY POINT? Praying and expecting God to take care of your problem without you putting forth any effort is unrealistic(not impossible, but don’t keep doing the same thing expecting different results). My point is, a habitual porn watcher(I think addiction is sort of a cop out), Hoarder, Habitual shopper, drug addict, alcoholic, anyone with a bad habit, may or may not be a Christian, but those who overcome it know what triggers their problem.
I also believe that you have to replace your bad habit and take yourself away from the situation. I knew a guy that knew he struggled with lust( he contends that every man does, just some contain it better), so when he was in the mall with his wife or where ever, he says he trips over stuff trying not to look at the scantily clad women all around. Another buddy of mine won’t even go to the magazine rack at a bookstore. I have tried both methods and learned that it does work. I was without a computer or cable for a period of 6 months once in an effort to save money, I was porn free and lust free that entire time. Well to be more honest, I didn’t act on the lust and didn’t view porn. I read books got involved with church etc.
Parental controls and Covenant Eyes Software only make you find more creative ways to find what helps you feed your desires. I am convinced that complete honesty with your wife, husband, girl or boyfriend or parents is the only way to get through this. You really have to sit down and have a heart to heart. Lay it all on the line, because I have a cousin whose marriage ended because in part due to her husbands porn addiction among other things. I have other friends that have had marital problems because of porn addiction. I don’t want to be a statistic.
I am like alot of you here: Christian and have a desire to stop. My family has a long history of porn. My grandfather had a porn stash dating back to the 60’s that me and all my male cousins stole our share of. Most of my friend’s dads had their share of porn stashes that I had access to. Like Tommyboy said, my history goes back to magazines then later lead to internet porn.
In the end we are all the same, we have a bad habit,we need to find our triggers ,become accountable to someone that we can trust and need to pray for escape when we are tempted. Of course we need to pray about it daily also. We also need to find ways to replace this habit.
I plan on practicing what I preach. I’m going to appologize to my wife, tell her to monitor my internet usage more closely and find new habits. I am also going to pray daily about this.
SO IT’S EARLY SPRING, WEATHER’S BEAUTIFUL, I NEED TO LOSE ABOUT 30 POUNDS AND I HAVE A BICYCLE I HAVEN’T RIDDEN IN YEARS. I PLAY 4 MUSICAL INTRUMENTS THAT I NEED TO LEARN TO PLAY BETTER AND I NEED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND FINSH MY BACHELORS DEGEREE. I WILL ADD A POST EVERY WEEK TO SHOW MY PROGRESS. PLEASE PRAY FOR ME AS I PRAY FOR YOU.
TAKE CARE,
DADGAD
I am a born again christian who wants to love jesus with all my heart. But when it comes to lusting with eyes, pornography and masturbation,i utterly fail to keep the commandments of jesus. I know that it is completely wrong to indulge in all these acts of uncleanness, but i some how cannot resist. i think i have made innumerable covenants with jesus, and have failed every single time. I am really fed up with this ugly state of mine, and some how want to get rid of this. i know that reading and meditating his word is the only solution to overcome these sins and live as a victor for the rest of my life. But i dont seem to do that.
can you all please pray for me to overcome these sins?
I have had problems with pornography addiction and masturbation since I was a teen. I am now 36 years old and I still deal with that problem. A few weeks ago I typed something in google, like pornography addiction and I found this website.
http://candeocan.com/
It has helped me overcome the addiction since now I understand it is a chemical addiction like drugs or alcohol. It is good to know how to deal with pornography and masturbation.
May God bless you all, and I hope this helps you overcome this “chemical addiction”
Check out this website for help

It explains that pornography addiction is a chemical addiction like alcohol and drugs.
Blessings to all!!
I’m 14. I look at porn…I need help…I don’t want to do it but it seems like porn is the only thing that gives me pleasure at least the best pleasure…so what should I do?
I’m a 13 year old girl and I look at porn when ever my family is not home I know its bad but I can’t stop I try to pray to God and ask him to help but it is still a problem I don’t know what to do.
Blessings and peace upon all who read this. I just read every comment and it’s clear that porn can be addictive. Unless you understand how God works on a personal level, I tell you that no matter what you try, you will never succeed on your own
I didn’t understand this, until I was freed from my habits and addictions. As a sinner, we have to understand that reciting scriptures such as, God will give us and exit out of temptation, does not necessarily mean that we are now never to fall again to the same temptation. We will find real quick that it might work today, but tomorrow, we are right back to square one. This is because we lack the communication and understanding with God.
It took me a life changing experience to realize that the Holy Spirit is the power that one needs in order to walk out of temptation each and every time. In order for one to be lead out of any temptation one has to have the Holy Spirit in them at all times. I say this because, I can no longer put lust before my eyes as I once did. Most of us feel guilty after we have committed an act of unrighteousness, and that’s because the spirit was not in us,
I can only say that what will lead everyone out of the sinful nature is dying in the flesh, which is of sin, and living in the spirit through Christ. If you are all serious enough to want to change those things that make you feel ashamed and guilty, look into the scriptures of the Holy Bible about what it means to be born again through the Baptismal of the Holy Spirit. There, I know you will find what you were seeking for.
I hope this message is seen by those who want to escape temptation.
hello i am 21 years old and have been struggling with pornography for a while now and need soome help. I am a christian and know that what i am doing isnt right but it is like i am running in circles always going back. I just need people to hold me accountable.
I need hepl i have been in the lord little over a year i have been addicting before i came to Christ and now it has happen again about a week ago i dont know what to do i need help i have a wife and child and it hurts me to do this
Hi all, I know exactly what you mean when you feel guilty and can’t seem to stop; I stuggle with masturbation as well. When we’re in the middle of our sin, we know what we’re doing is wrong but can’t seem to find the way out. All I can say is that the ONLY way to keep from sinning like this is to rely on God completely. On our own, we’re not strong enough. We have to pray to Him as soon as we feel tempted and those same enticing thoughts come back.
Just remember that masturbation really only increases to desire, the more you indulge in that/lustful thought the more appeal it has and the more you want to. And it’s the devil who wants us to feel separated from God, saying we are too sinful, too bad, for Him to love (and forgive!) us, but it’s simply not true. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you”. Ask God to free you from your chains to your sexual addiction and He will! And ask the Spirit to give you strength.
This article helped me so much in setting me free (especially the prayer at bottom): http://www.bible.com/bibleanswers_result.php?id=252 if link doesn’t work, go to bible.com and search for masturbation. I really recommend reading. Also, try to share with a Christian you trust. “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed” James 5:16.
Lord, I pray for each and everyone of us who struggle with this issue. In Jesus’ name I pray your Holy Spirit over our hearts, please give us strength when we’re tempted to turn to you to resist. We ask for your forgiveness to cleanse our hearts and minds, and we humbly accept your gracious gift of love and grace. Thank you for freeing us from these chains! Help us to instead live for you and the purposes you’ve created us for. In Jesus’ precious name, amen.
I found this site because I was looking for something to keep me from going to porn tonight. I thank you all for sharing your thoughts and comments because it’s been very helpful. I’m 33 years old and I’ve been married for 10 years. I have masturbated pretty much every day of my adolescent and my adult life until very recently when I realized how my lustful desires were separating me from a more full relationship with Christ. My wife knew that I did it, but she didn’t know how much and that porn often accompanied it. I’ve been making an effort to abstain, and I’ve failed. I’m sitting here now having used porn 2 days ago after months of staying away from it. During the act, I found the satisfaction I was looking for, and just as quickly as I satisfied that craving, the craving has returned even stronger.
Both porn and masturbation are addictions, and ones that we and our culture have deemed acceptable, because after all, we’re not hurting anyone, right? I have often justified masturbation as acceptable because (1) it’s normal for me to have these urges and I shouldn’t fight it, (2) my wife’s not always in the mood and doesn’t mind if I take care of myself once in a while, and (3) because I’m calmer and generally happier if I release on a regular basis. Every one of these is a lie that I tell myself.
I’ve been leading a bible study for 5 months now (not on this topic, but it’s amazing how answers to so many different issues will emerge when you dive into God’s word). One thing that we’ve found from our study is that God is very black and white when it comes to sin. He doesn’t use a sliding scale of moral relativism that I find myself referencing when I justify masturbating. “I’m satisfying my urges and I’m not cheating on my wife, so masturbation is ok since it’s not as bad as some other things I could be doing to get satisfied.” Does this sound familiar?
I’ve got 3 passages to share with you that I really need to start referring back to more frequently, because after all, I just failed a couple of days ago and I am fighting that urge again right now as I type. I hope they speak to you like they speak to me (emphasis added):
1 Corinthians 6:18-20
18 Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. 19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? YOU DO NOT BELONG TO YOURSELF, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
Galatians 5:16-17
16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. THESE TWO FORCES ARE CONSTANTLY FIGHTING EACH OTHER, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
Ephesians 5:8-9
8 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. SO LIVE AS PEOPLE OF LIGHT! 9 For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
Please pray for me, and I will pray for you wherever you are. God bless!
