Writing enticing headlines, subheadings and links on pages is key to retain visitors
Why is the skill of the headline writer so important for a newspaper or magazine? It’s the headlines that sell the publication, and keep the reader reading! It’s an essential requirement for the web-writer too. There is much we can learn from journalism. The classic text on this subject is Confessions of an Advertising Man by David Ogilvy. It is widely available: Amazon.com new and secondhand.

How to write your testimony: writing effective evangelistic Christian testimony life story
Testimony can be a powerful tool of Christian communication. Imaginary young woman 'Angie' has written her story in three different styles: 1. For Christians, as she might tell it in church 2. Completely rewritten for non-Christians 3. Also for non-Christians – using the style of a magazine feature Note – this is not a true story though it sums up the experience of many real people - it was written to illustrate writing techniques. Please do not quote it as fact!

A Christian writers guide to writing, revising, checking and editing literature
Checking, editing and rewriting is an essential part of the writing process. In fact, it should take much longer than the writing of the first draft version. It is also very important to shorten pages and cut out all unnecessary words. Less is more.

Learning from journalism: write better using writing tips for effective Christian communication
Writing for the Web requires the style and gifts of the journalist, not the preacher. The Press has had more than 200 years to learn how to communicate effectively in print. Learn from them. Read books on journalistic writing. Observe the way newspapers and magazines tell stories. They know the rules for clear communication and keeping a reader’s interest. “These skills pertain equally to the Web. We need to grab attention fast!” says journalistic writing expert Marshall Cook. If you are a preacher or an evangelist, sorry – you have some unlearning to do. Your gifts do not transfer directly to the Web!

Teaching IT, computer use, and Web skills, can be an entry point for Christian evangelism
Teaching English has long been a major point of contact and 'way in' for missionaries in many countries. In Japan, for instance, a majority of Christians first came into contact with the Gospel via English lessons. (It is now possible to teach English online as a form of sensitive outreach.) Around the world, there is now a big hunger by people who want to learn how to use computers and gain IT and Web skills – a genuine practical felt need. They see it as a major part of their education and a means of employment advancement. There is thus a big doorway open for local churches and mission agencies to teach these skills.

The value of national or regional networks of people involved in web and digital ministry
We are always stronger and more effective as part of a network or team. This is particularly true in web evangelism and digital outreach, which can for some be a solitary and isolated ministry. In North America, the Internet Evangelism Coalition started soon after the Web became a mainstream medium, and through a variety of projects including an annual conference and the development of Internet Evangelism Day, has advocated the Web as an effective means of outreach. However, in many other countries and regions of the world, there are no active networks of web evangelists. In some languages there is little or no online evangelism at all. There are different models for such networks; we are not proposing any single way of doing it.

Reaching the unchurched - short story about cutting edge soul winning: Emlyn & the Far Pools
“I wish there were more,” said Emlyn to his family, as he brought his fish-catch into the house. After all, the whole village depended on fish. It was even a requirement of the landlord that the village should catch sufficient fish for market. Only then would it grow and prosper.
