Free ebooks about church social media and communication
A growing number of free short ebooks are available on social and other media for church ministry. Note the word 'short'. Long books can be great, but a surprising amount of wisdom and practical advice can be condensed into 10-20 pages. It is, perhaps, the 15-minute TED lecture approach, applied to text. You can read them quickly, and keep them as reference manuals.

Heroes On the Beach - #6803
Maybe all your friends are Christian friends. Maybe all your free time is spent in Christian places, and yet you are surrounded by people whose lives are breaking apart like those ships long ago, who will die without Christ; who will spend eternity without Christ unless there is a Rescuer. And they won't come to the Life-Saving Station. You have to go where they are and bring them back like Jesus did.

Les Mis - the film I want to see again, and why Les Miserables is incredible
"We must go and see this again next week," my wife and I said to each other after watching Les Miserables. This new film is simply amazing. I've already written about the incredible spiritual parallels in the film, the multiple starting points for conversation (many connected with personal pain and life issues), and the growing number of online resources available, especially the Damaris video shorts and study guide, and Rusty Wright's free-to-use article. So this post is a few personal and random thoughts about this production...

Evangelistic opportunities online that no one is using
New initiatives don’t happen if we don'[t start them. There are huge numbers of potential digital evangelism strategies no one is doing. Yet. Outsider-friendly stuff that is contextualized for demographics and interest groups with zero interest in the good news. Ways to use popular culture as starting points in conversation. Engaging compassionately with felt needs and worries, or with other worldviews and faith communities. Maybe this infographic will encourage you! (And yes, there's a typo on it!)

Share your faith on Facebook - cartoon explains how easy it is
Social media has changed everything in digital communication. For non-profits and Christian ministries, Eric Qualman chillingly observes in his new video, "The ROI of Social Media is: your business still exists in five years." It is really as stark as this – if your non-profit or ministry does not have an integrated social media strategy (rather than just trying to bolt-on a bit of Facebook or Twitter), you are in danger. Your church will also suffer, though not terminally, if it does not use social media, says Josh Burns. But equally significant – and greatly under-utilized – is this new potential for any Jesus-follower to share faith appropriately across relationships, using social media. YesEIs have produced a new short cartoon video explaining just how simple this it is to use their own curated choices of evangelistic video shorts.

Using hobby websites for appropriate friendship evangelism
One of the key ways to engage with non-seeking outsiders is through a mutual interest or personal need. Hobby websites are therefore a great way of building redemptive relationships. Yet such sites are vanishingly rare.
