Effective evangelism - Relationships and listening: keys to finding Jesus online
To paraphrase the 1990's election slogan (in response to the unspoken question "What's the priority?"), we might respond to "What's the key to effective evangelism?" with the answer: "It's the relationships, silly." Most lasting conversions are the result of an ongoing relationship with one or more believers.

How to Make a Woman Feel Loved - #6238
To husbands: do you love her enough to make the sacrifices to listen to her with loving patience? That's love in the language of the woman you love. It's the Jesus-way of loving - sacrificing the way you'd like it to be to benefit someone you love. It's more than listening. It's opening your heart to her heart.

The Person Behind The Words - #6184
When you go through a day without time in God's Word, it's not the Bible you're leaving there - it's Jesus. The Bible doesn't care if you show up. Jesus does. That's why you need to make your time with Him and His Word the highest priority of your personal schedule - the sun around which all the other planets of your day must revolve.

What They're Trying to Tell Us - #6164
God has promised His wisdom upon request (James 1:7 ) - and nobody needs that wisdom more than moms and dads. So, several times a day as you look at your children, ask your Heavenly Father, "Help me see what You see when you look at them." Then you'll know how to give them what they need the most.

Premature Bombs - #2814
There are so many craters, so many wounded people where someone has dropped a bomb that never should have been dropped. A disaster can be averted when we check our information before the bombers are in the air.

Safe in the Middle of the Flood - #2713
You know floods are coming. Just don't wait for the floods to build the wall around your family. If you make each day a flood-proofing day, your family may be in the flood - but the flood won't be in your family.

Listening in the Bible: Proverbs 18:13
We've all been around people who are great listeners. It's not just the fact that they don't talk when you're talking, it's that in the act of listening they are actively engaging in what you're saying. Proverbs tells us that it's folly--even shameful--to answer before you've properly listened.

Devotional : Listening To Each Other
How often during a conversation do you find yourself thinking about what you are going to say next, rather than listening to what the other person is really saying? One of the simplest ways we can put love into action is to offer our undivided attention and take our thoughts off ourselves.

Devotional : Listening To God
Our relationship with Jesus has much in common with our relationships with friends and family. When we demonstrate effort and commitment in our relationships, they flourish. When neglected or abandoned, they suffer and decline. As with any relationship, listening plays a very important part.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Jamming Communications - #5689
You literally have to fight for those quiet times in a world of noise. You drive without the radio on just so you can listen to your Lord. You leave the TV off, you skip the news, you exercise without the music, you go away if necessary just to be still and know He is God. Begin by praising Him specifically for attributes and actions that you've been experiencing, and then listen to Him through extended time in His Word. Pour out your deepest feelings to Him in prayer and listen in your soul for His responses. Keep a note pad handy and write down whatever He seems to be saying during this time when His voice is the only one you're listening to.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
