Immune to the Warnings - #6411
You may have never out-and-out rejected Jesus, and you wouldn't. But if you've never out-and-out given yourself to Jesus, you are as lost as someone who's never heard the warning siren of the Gospel. In a tornado, the one who never heard the warning and the one who just ignored it will suffer the same fate.

Book review: God Space, by Doug Pollock. Effective conversational evangelism.
Most of us struggle to connect with outsiders and have meaningful conversations about faith. We may have been taught to use formulaic methodogies to steer conversations and proclaim set-piece 'one size fits all' gospel presentations. If ever these worked moderately well in times past, they don't now. Pollock’s book explains his concept of creating a conversational ‘God Space’ in which to engage, by learning to notice and listen, and thereby avoid a range of conversation killers or hijacking methods that control a conversation.

Running Into Busyness - #6317
Busyness that is running from the truth is an escape, as surely as drugs or alcohol. And it's just as addicting. Isn't it time to stop running finally and unload the stress of a neurotic, destructive busyness and just listen to God? Deal with what he's been chasing you for all these years, and you won't have to run nearly so much.

Scary Times
As the tsunami was racing across the Pacific, I saw this cable news banner: "People are urged to take urgent action to protect lives." Our potentially "apocalyptic" world seems to be calling us to one of two spiritual responses - "urgent action." If you belong to Jesus, act urgently to tell people you love about Him - no more excuses, no more stalling. If you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus, act urgently to give yourself to Him.

Catching Beats Dodging - #6272
So many human tragedies could have been averted if only a man hadn't put off dealing with problems and not let the sun go down on it. If we're going to be the leaders God has commanded us to be, guys, we've got to turn and face the issues. Discuss our deep feelings and solve problems while they're small enough to solve.

Figuring Out the Meaning of it All - #6242
The problem is that we've left the orbit we were made for. It's called sin - our stubborn self-rule of a life that God was supposed to run. Unless we can get back to the One we were made for, we'll live our whole life without the answer to why I'm here, and we will die without hope. But the Bible gives us incredible hope with this announcement: "Christ suffered for our sin...to bring you safely home to God" (1 Peter 3:18 ).

Book review: Got style? Personality-based evangelism by Jeffrey Johnson
We usually find it frustrating and discouraging to try and fulfill a role for which we do not have the gifts – it’s like being a square peg in a round hole. It is yet more condemning to feel completely inadequate in comparison with those who do seem to have these gifts.
