The Way to Your Father's Heart - #6658
Put your money, your time, mobilize your church to do something about needy people wherever they are, not just long distance loving. I'm talking about getting your hands dirty, personal involvement, family involvement. Teach your kids how to have a heart for the poor. Work first hand with some less fortunate people; help lift their burden. Do the work of God on earth.

Outrageous - #6548
God is not deaf to the shattered lives; the anguished cries of a world that sin has devastated. God says today as He said to Moses in Exodus, "I have heard them crying out...I am concerned about their suffering...So I have come down to rescue them." Oh good! God's going to do something about all this hurt and lostness. Yes He is, and He has a plan. Listen to the next verse, "So, now, go. I am sending you" (Exodus 3:7-10 ).

Amazing self-learning computer experiment with Indian children
Professor Sugata Mitra is the Indian academic who allowed poor Indian children to work out computers for themselves. But here's the challenge. For those kids who will have a web connection through these cheap tablets (or any other route), where will they find evangelistic material that is contextualized for their own culture, language and religion, and assumes they have zero Christian knowledge?

Rights - a Christian perspective
The Bible teaches repeatedly that Christians are to work to make sure that the poor and oppressed find the justice that is their right. Elsewhere in the Bible, God states that He values this more than religious ceremonies or rituals.

Giving to the poor - a Christian perspective
Paul praises one of the early Christian communities for giving beyond their means--despite their own financial difficulties, they did not hesitate to give what they had to those in need.

Oppression - a Christian perspective
God has a special concern for the poor and downtrodden. Nobody who oppresses or abuses the needy will escape God's anger.

Help the poor - a Christian perspective
One of the themes common throughout the entire Bible is the importance of caring for the poor and downtrodden. This passage from Leviticus is mirrored in countless other places in the Bible, in both the Old and New Testaments.

"Widow" in the Bible: James 1:27
Both the Old and New Testaments contain many exhortations to care for widows and orphans. Widows and orphans have been cut off from the rest of society and lack the family support structures that the rest of us enjoy. We live in a culture different from that of ancient Israel, but we are still obligated to help those on the fringes of society.
