The Trouble With Life's Great Catches - #5950
We have tried to fill a God-sized hole with things and people that can't begin to take His place. If we live like this, we'll live without peace and without meaning. If we die like this, we'll spend eternity without God and His love. He didn't leave us separated from Him. He pursued us. He sent His Son, Jesus, to sacrifice His life for yours and mine; to take the rap for all our sin, that defiant self-rule of our lives.

Bad Stuff In Your Tank - #5939
It's getting harder and harder to go on, isn't it, with that stalling and with the setbacks you're experiencing. And you're running out of gas. Today, would you finally turn and face Jesus; finally face how your sin has been hurting your Savior. Come to the foot of Jesus' cross. Abandon that sin at the place where Jesus died for it, and pick up His overcoming power to beat what has beaten you for so long.

Face of God - a Christian perspective
God promises never to hide His face--that is, reject--those who come to Him in true repentance. He urges His wayward children to return to Him and stop stubbornly acting on their own desires.

The Greatest Miracle Known to Man - #5930
Jesus, this name you have to believe in, means "Jehovah saves." So when you "believe in His name," you're telling Jesus that you're taking Him as your personal Rescuer from the death penalty for your sins, because He's the only One who died for them. Which brings us to the eternal life-or-death question: has there been a time when you've done that?

Kindness and repentance - a Christian perspective
God showers us with blessings and acts of kindness. How do you respond--do you complain and reject Him? Or do you live a life characterized by gratitude for His kindness?

Sackcloth - a Christian perspective
In the Old Testament, wearing sackcloth was a customary way of displaying sorrow and repentance. In this instance, king Ahab repents and puts on sackcloth, and God responds by sparing Israel from disaster.

More Than a Launch - #3501
True worship results in repentance. So you say, "Lord, I'm a mess." Like Isaiah, you see the ugliness of specific sin - in his case, it had something to do with his mouth - but you melt into repentance. And then, because He shed His blood to pay for that sin, Jesus comes and cleans you up for this new day.

Life-Saving Pain - #5921
The longer you refuse to repent of your sin, the more God is going to turn up the pain, and the higher price you're going to pay. Not because He doesn't love you, but because He does; too much to let you keep going down a road that's destroying you.

Convert in the Bible - a Christian perspective
What should our response be upon hearing the news of our sin and spiritual helplessness? We ought to respond by repenting and converting--turning our lives over to Christ.

Going Back To Where You Went Wrong - #2823
Biblical repentance always goes hand-in-hand with restitution - making things right at the point where you went wrong. That might be restoring money to someone, undoing some lies or some damage you did to someone's reputation, maybe asking forgiveness of those who you sinned against sexually, sinned with sexually, or maybe of those who have been hurt by you anger. Whatever the sin, the Holy Spirit of God will make it clear what needs to be made right.
