True Woman: The Church and the Single Mom Family
You know her. You sat by her at the school program. She waited on your table at the restaurant last night. She rang up your supplies for your foreign mission trip. Life is so busy–you didn’t hear the hurt behind the words as she called out, “have a good night,” and it never occurred to you that she is part of a mission field right in your own back yard.

True Woman: What's a Single Mom to Do?
As a single mom of two little boys, I remember thinking more than once as I collapsed into bed, “Did I even brush my teeth today?” I don’t recall a more physically exhausting, worry-filled, second-guessing, constant-struggle time in my life than those years I spent as a single mom.

True Woman: Reaching Out on Valentine's Day
The evening passed remarkably fast, leaving fond memories and dirty dishes. As we cleaned up, we agreed this was one of our best Valentine’s Days. By turning our attention from ourselves, we became vessels to demonstrate the love of God in a practical way to others. There was nothing particularly heroic about this event. We didn’t solve the problems of the world. We simply gave away a small amount of time and material resources to surprise and delight others.

Unmarried in the Bible - a Christian perspective
Paul was unmarried, as was Jesus and presumably many of the disciples. Paul even tells us in 1 Corinthians that those who are unmarried are free from concern and have time to please the Lord.

Single - a Christian perspective
The apostle Paul saw great value in being single and unmarried--he viewed it as an opportunity to serve God in ways that aren't possible once you have the extra responsibilities of maintaining a family.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - The Beauty of an Arranged Marriage - #5248
What you don't want to do is run ahead into a relationship that you've arranged. Impatience is the greatest enemy of God's best. Remember, there is far more lonely loneliness than not being married, and that's being married to the wrong person.

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
