You Can Chase Me, But You Can't Have Me - #6443
You'll hear the noise of the chariots, you'll feel the pressure. But turn and face your enemy and tell him, "Because of Jesus, you can chase me, but you can't have me."

Egypt - a Christian perspective
One of the most defining events of the Old Testament is the Israelites' rescue from slavery in Egypt. This is the beginning of that story; in this passage, we learn of the Israelites' oppression and slavery in the foreign land of Egypt.

Slaves - a Christian perspective
Many of the members of the early Christian church were slaves who needed to know how to relate to their masters under their new faith. Paul issues some guidelines for slaves here, without necessarily condoning the practice.

Slave in the Bible: Romans 6:15-23
The New Testament often uses the image of slavery to describe a state of total subservience to a spiritual ruler. In this case, we learn that we are spiritual slaves to sin and its power until we find freedom in Christ. We become "slaves" to Christ instead, and find that slavery to Christ is in fact true spiritual freedom.

"Free" in the Bible: John 8:35-36
God promises freedom to those who follow Him. This passage contrasts the lot of a slave, who must do as he or she is told, to that of a family member, who is free to act as they please. When we follow Christ, we are invited to leave our slavery to sin and join the family of God.

Service in the Bible: Ephesians 6:5-8
This somewhat controversial passage exhorts slaves to their obey their masters as they do Christ. While this has been taken out of context as support for the evil institution of slavery, it seems rather intended to encourage us to persevere in whatever place life has placed us, secure in the knowledge that the work we do for Christ will last long after earthly authorities have passed away.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries, Inc. - Slaves No More - #9188 | Radio Program | A Life That Matters
I can only imagine the unspeakably deep feelings of my African-American brothers and sisters with the historic inauguration of America’s first black President. The milestone stands at the pinnacle of a story that begins with slave ships, shackles, segregation and shame. What could have been more degrading than to be owned by another human being and listed as property? It’s no wonder many of those slaves risked their lives trying to be free. History tells us that some who made it out were buried with just four telling words on their tombstones: “Born slave, died free.”
