"Sound mind" in the Bible: 2 Timothy 1:7
A spirit of self-discipline--sometimes translated as "a sound mind"--is one of the characteristics of Christ-followers. Nobody who has experienced God's grace need be timid or afraid with God at their side.

Our errand being one of grace, the Lord will hear us when we ask his presence in it. Now, his Spirit is not "the spirit of fear :" it is the "spirit of love, and of power, and of a sound mind" (2 Tim. 1:7).
