Guns and Chainsaws
Jesus can clean out a heart full of anger and resentment and pain of the past. And turn a life-robbing chainsaw into a life-giving river. That's why I need to make King David's prayer my prayer - each day: "Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips" (Psalm 141:3 ).

No Big Deal - #6719
Lavish what you have...all the little or all the much on Jesus. Maybe the problem is pride. But then, how could you do any less for the Lord. Don't be proud; it's no big deal to give all the little that you have for the much that He gave you.

The Battle For the Transmitter - #6701
All day long you're transmitting to the people around you. Does it sound like Jesus? When you have surrendered the transmitter to Christ, then He is really in charge.

You Got Mail...For Thanksgiving - #6488
We're pretty good at thinking of things we don't like about someone. But something good happens in your heart when you make yourself sit down and you start writing about that person's strengths, and their contributions to your life, to others' lives. And something good happens in their life when they get your gratitude in a letter. You are indeed building them up.

Making God Cry - #6485
David prayed a great prayer, and it is a great one for all of us to echo, probably on a daily basis. I probably need to echo it several times a day. He simply said, "Lord, set a watch before my mouth." Put a guard there. Be very careful to never tear down someone that God is building.

Hold Your Fire - #6474
In Romans 12 the Apostle Paul says, "Do not repay anyone evil for evil; do not take revenge, but leave room for God's wrath." Let God even the score; He's much better at it than you are. Jesus turned to His Father for justice. An eye for an eye is not the way of Jesus. Even from His cross He says of those who have nailed Him to that cross, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." That's the example for us.

The Terminator - #6467
This tongue we've got is daily either making people feel more alive or more destroyed inside. So, hold the put-downs, swallow the sarcasm, and cushion the criticism. Remember, your tongue can be The Terminator.

Someone Talked - #6445
We can sink people's lives with our words. World War II G.I.s were warned not to say the things they could say, because they were wanting to save lives. See, that's still an important warning and maybe it's a time for us to pray as the Holy Spirit points this out inside us, "Lord, help me to stop this tongue of mine before more hurting words come out." "The tongue has the power of life and death."

A Guard Could Save You a Lot of Grief - #6427
Don't let your mouth run on like it has been. Ask your Lord to guard your mouth. After all, important places have a guard, and nothing you have has more affect than your mouth. So, keep your lip guard handy.

True Woman: What to Do When the Compliments Don't Come
I don’t hear a lot of “Excellent job with that diaper changing technique, mom,” or “I love the way you scraped the dried milk out of my sippy cups,” or “I really liked your voice inflection the fifth time you read The Very Hungry Caterpillar to me today.”
