The end of the world, Mayan Calendar, apocalpyse & the Bible
From a historical perspective, 'Christian' attempts to pinpoint the date of Jesus' return have always made us look bizarre and ridiculous, not least the supposed 'predictions' of 2011.

True Woman: Japan: After Empathy and Aid, People Want Answers
When love has wept and worked, it must have something to say about God. It doesn’t need to have all the answers. Only God does. But it has the Bible, and the Bible is not silent on this matter.

Christian ministry response to disaster: David Wilkerson's prophecy of judgment
Without wanting to sound apocalyptic, we know that we live in very uncertain days. One Christian leader has predicted serious inner city problems. Blogs provide a good forum to discuss such issues – here is some very balanced and sensible discussion about his prediction at Monday Morning Insight. It is certainly a very possible scenario – a prolonged recession, unemployment, repossions etc will bear down most on the people at the bottom of the pile, and they will not necessarily react with the patience that newsreel of 30’s soup kitchens seem to suggest. This recession will be likely be harder and longer than anything most of us have seen, and it will take many years to sort out and pay off the mess created by the kindly bankers and their mickey mouse money schemes. Spare a thought for unemployed in Japan, who have to sell nearly everything before being entitled to unemployment benefit.

Navigating Without Going Aground - #6081
It takes a real man, a real woman, a moral hero to say about an issue, "God hasn't changed His mind, and He's calling the shots. The lighthouse isn't moving, and I am navigating - not by my feelings, not by your feelings - but by the unchanging light from heaven called the Bible. Any other course means that sooner or later, we're going down!"

The Wave and the Warning - #5973
The people who survived the tsunami were the people who ran to the higher ground where the waves couldn't come. The only way you can be safe and beyond the reach of God's judgment is to go to the high ground of a place called Skull Hill where God's judgment for your sin already fell on His Son. The judgment of God can't reach you there; but only there. No other ground is high enough.

Calamity in the Bible - a Christian perspective
Nothing happens outside of God's control--not blessings, and not disasters. While it's sometimes difficult to understand why God allows disasters to happen, the Bible is clear that He is in control of all things at all times.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Hurricane Hope - #8124
I was thinking about the largest search and rescue effort launched in the history of the planet. It was on a Roman cross on a garbage dump outside of Jerusalem. It’s where Jesus came to rescue us from an awful eternity.

Sri Lankan Devastation Allows the Universal Church an Opportunity to Give
Sri Lankan beaches are the most picturesque in the world. Soft sounds of the waves lapping, an endless strip of white, sandy beaches contrasting with deep, blue waters and coral reefs that are home to many types of tropical fish—these are the wonders of the Sri Lankan coast

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
- 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
