Tim Tebow's Really Bad Day - #6565
I can be totally sure of Jesus in the moments when there's nothing else I can be sure of. "We have this hope as an anchor, (the Bible says) firm and secure" (Hebrews 6:19 ). I'm safe in His love because of how far His love reached for me. It went all the way to the cross where He poured our His life-blood to pay the price for my sin and for yours, and tear down the wall between God and us.

Sad Success - #6547
For 2,000 years, Jesus has been the sustaining fulfillment for millions of us when life's spotlights go off. He's been the one love that's cherished us like no other, to the point of laying down His life so we wouldn't have to die for our sins. Until we commit ourselves to this God who gave His life for us and then rose from the grave to be alive to come into our life, our hearts are, in the Bible's words, "like the tossing sea which cannot rest...there is no peace" (Isaiah 57:20-21 ).

Beautiful But Broken
If God was ever going to turn His back on me, it would have been when His Son was hanging on that cross. But He turned His back on His Son - who was carrying our sin - so He would never have to turn His back on us. So, "nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:39). His is the only love in the world that will never disappoint you, never divorce you, never die on you.

The Bar Stays Where it Is - #6530
When sin gets close to home, it can teach us how to be more merciful than we've been before, how to be less judgmental. And it can give us a wonderful opportunity to show God's unconditional love for people whether they clear the bar or not. But we dare not try in the process of loving and forgiving and accepting people in a sinful moment. We dare not try to lower God's standard. He didn't for the man He loved deeply, and we can't either.

There's a tendency to let down on living so we won't have regrets, and won't have anything to fix, or repair, or hide. It's easy to let down at home. That's why we have to be careful to lead a blameless life. When we get home, we let down, we're careless because we think no one's watching. But the biblical priority is put on how you live at home.
