Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - The Last-Minute Lift - #4844
You know those people had to be looking at the water in front of them and the approaching army behind them and saying, "No way." Kind of like Jerry's situation, it looked like there was no way to do anything but crash. But then God says, "Way." And our Lord, who is the great Way Maker, removes an obstacle that looks absolutely impossible to remove, or He lifts us over it as in my friend's case.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Hitting it Head-On - #4848
Half-hearted half-steps will not meet this challenge. It’s time to do a David. Run toward that challenge, proclaiming every step of the way, "The battle is the Lord’s. He will give this giant into our hands."

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - The Repeating Part of Eating - #4849
Isn't it time you start to take seriously God's command, "Guard your heart"? He says that's above all else! What you are eating is affecting you. And no matter how good it tastes or looks, you just cannot afford the damage it's doing and will do long after the flavor is past. If Jesus is against it, don't watch it, don't listen to it, don't laugh at it. Load up on the good stuff that promotes what's pure and right and positive, because what you eat now does affect you later!

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Escape from Lonely Island - #4850
One way to make a lonely time a short time is to find someone who needs you; to reach out from your loneliness, even if you don't feel like it, to make a difference for someone else. At a time when loneliness leaves you thinking mostly about yourself, it's important to decide to look beyond yourself. Another antidote to loneliness is to expand your world, especially your circle of friendships. If you take the risks to reach out to more people, you can reduce your trips to Lonely Island.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Escaping the "Me" Monster - #4175
The "me" monster. That's the tendency to think about myself most of the time, and it's the main reason Pam was down so much of the time, and maybe you are. There's nothing like hurt and pain and pressure to turn us into self-focused people. Too often, life is about my needs, my issues, my problems, my agenda, my feelings, my load. But a life of self-focus or self-pity or self-centeredness is just not how we were wired to live, especially if we belong to Jesus Christ.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - The Burdens That Could Crush You - #4904
If you belong to Jesus Christ, you have a God who does for you what that driver did for those horses. He holds back the load you could not bear. Now you may be carrying a very heavy load right now - and you may even be wondering about the accuracy of what I said. Be assured that He knows how much weight will make you stronger - and He'll allow that much in your life. But He also knows when it's weight that would crush you - and that's when He puts on the brakes.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Jesus Where You Live - #5004
People you see each day often need something from Jesus, whether they realize it or not. They may need to feel His love, so Jesus prompts you to show them His love in some act of kindness, or caring, or rescue. He sends His encouragement through you to discouraged people, His financial provision through what He's given you to give, some gift that will show how much He cares. Every day, He wants you to leave with your "needometer" on and finely tuned - going through your day, not just to survive or to get your "to do" list done, but to look for needs and to deliver gifts from Him.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Making it Spring - #5013
Hard, difficult people are often folks who have experienced a lot of wintry treatment from people and some of it may be their own fault. But more cold will not help blossom them into something better. Only warmth will do that. How about singing up for the Barnabas Club? Make up your mind that you're going to ask God for the grace to regularly affirm that person, to tell them their worth and beauty. Make them feel safe when they're with you. Be the one person who expects the best of them, not the worst.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - How to Make the World a Little Less Lonely - #5032
If you're going to follow Jesus, if you're going to be like Jesus, you can't be so busy that you can't stop for someone in need. That need may be physical, financial or emotional. It may surface through an e-mail you get, or a letter, or a call, or just by the Holy Spirit laying someone on your heart who He knows needs you. Don't shrug that off. Don't just keep running your marathon. Do what your Savior did. Stop for that person who needs help or attention, who needs a hug, or a prayer, or some praise, or encouragement.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - The Rebuilder's Dream - #5052
If you believe how God sees you, then there's some important changes in how life should look to you. First, when you're down about who you are, you look back at the old pictures. You look at what you used to be. You are becoming something. Second, when you're down on yourself, you realize you're not finished yet. The rebuilder is in the process. And third, when you're dealing with other people, encourage the person God is building in them. Be part of the rebuilding project.
