God's Super Glue - #5823
We struggle, we worry, we scheme, never going to the Grace Throne for the answers or the resources we need. We could be rich; we live in unnecessary poverty. We need to accept this incredible invitation many times a day and pray aggressively, not passively; boldly, not timidly; specifically, not generally. And it's all available to us because of Jesus. We come there because He died to make it possible for us to get this close to the God of the universe.

Level Ground - #5808
The culture of money and power and fashion and social groupings is supposed to stop at the door of the Church of Jesus Christ. I hope it does at yours. None of that stuff matters to Jesus. The world has its "power elite" and its "insiders and outsiders." Don't let that cancer infect your church.

What's So Amazing About Amazing Grace - #5773
Maybe you're still "lost," like the song says, but you're ready to be "found." You've been "blind," but you want to "see." Then it's time to let God's undeserved love - His amazing grace - happen to you. It's time to reach out to Jesus and grab Him like a drowning person would grab a rescuer. He's your only hope.

Back In the Ring For Another Round - #5772
Do you make a person feel really important when they're with you, or like they're keeping you from something more important? Do you listen for their heart, not just their words? Do you look for what God seems to be doing in their life and then you affirm it to them? Do you look for their strong points and tell them what you see? By the way, this ministry of encouragement is one anyone can have and it may be just what you need to get you out of your own pit of self-focus and self-pity.

Battlefield Peace - #5728
All of our running of our own life, all the wrong things we've done have left us far from the God whose love we were made for. So there's never really any inner peace until we let Jesus bring us home to Him. It took Jesus dying on the cross to pay for all of your sin, but because He did, He made it possible for your war with God to end; for you to finally experience that awesome feeling of knowing that you are at peace with your God.

Whatever Happened to Peace on Earth? - #5727
When Jesus enters your life, the wall between you and God comes down forever and He is there to help win the war in your soul. And there's peace; peace that is recession-proof, divorce-proof, terror-proof, death-proof.

Slave to sin - a Christian perspective
Paul asks us facetiously in Romans if we should continue to be slaves to sin so that God's grace might abound. The logic is that if we sin more God has more to forgive. Q.E.D. God would be more merciful. However, since we are now dead to sin and no longer its slave we should instead strive for righteousness.

Works in the Bible: Ephesians 2:8-10
Good works are an important part of following Christ--they are tangible outgrowths of our faith. But good works by themselves are not enough to save us; salvation must come through faith. This passage forms the basis of the belief that we are "saved by grace alone, through faith."

Grace in the Bible: James 4:6
Grace is receiving an undeserved approval from God. In this verse in James, we are told that God willingly gives grace to those that are humble and opposes those who are proud.

Repentance in the Bible: Acts 3:19
One of the greatest promises in the Bible is God's assurance that when we repent of our sins, He casts them away and replaces them with His peace and forgiveness. Repentance isn't just about wiping our slate clean--it's about finding renewed purposes and receiving a "refreshing" from God.
